Privacy Policy

Policy for Protecting Personal Information

Understanding that it is a corporate social responsibility to be compliant with the Personal Information Protection Law in Japan, Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the "Company") has instituted the following policy for handling in a proper manner such personal information that can identify a specific individual as a customer's name, address, email address, etc., (hereinafter referred to as the "Personal Information") .

1. Compliance with Applicable Laws and Regulations

In dealing with Personal Information, the Company will observe all applicable laws and regulations concerning protection of Personal Information as well as the Company's in-house rules.

2. Obtaining Personal Information

In obtaining Personal Information, the Company shall inform the customer of the reasons for use and the Company's department in charge, while limiting the scope of information to the extent necessary.

3. Proper Management of Personal Information

The Personal Information will be kept up-to-date, and the Company shall take measures to prevent unlawful access to loss, destruction, falsification, leakage, etc., of the Personal Information.

4. Restriction on Disclosure to Third Parties

The Company shall not provide any Personal Information to any other third party without obtaining prior consent from the relevant customer, unless provided for otherwise by law.

5. Control of Contractors

When a third party is consigned to deal with the Personal Information, the Company shall take such necessary measures as executing a confidentiality agreement to cause the third party to manage the Personal Information properly.

6. Shared Use

The Personal Information will be shared among and within the Yamato Group companies. Please refer here for details.

7. Enquiries for Disclosure of Personal Information

Any request or enquiries for disclosure, correction, deletion or suspension of use of the Personal Information, addressed to our service center unless provided for otherwise by law, shall be responded to promptly by the Company to a reasonable extent. Please refer here for details.

8. Management Structure

To enhance the Company-wide approach to the protection of the Personal Information, the Company shall setup the "Information Security Committee", assign a person in charge at each department dealing with the Personal Information, and continuously promote its employees' education and enlightenment.

9. Continuous Improvements

In view of the developments in information technology and the changes in social requirements, the Company is determined to implement continuous improvements in its management structure and approaches to ensure protection of the Personal Information.

Purposes of Use of Personal Information

The Company shall use the Personal Information to the extent necessary for the following purposes.

1. Company's Businesses

  1. (1) Small parcel delivery services for the general public, with a focus on TA-Q-BIN
  2. (2) Sales of packaging material and other goods
  3. (3) Other businesses related or ancillary to above

  3. (3) To verify customers' qualifications for using the products/services or to identify the customer
  4. (4) To conduct market research and data analysis for studying and developing new products/services
  5. (5) To introduce the Company's and/or its relevant companies' products/services via direct mails, etc.
  6. (6) To ensure good business performance with our customers in a proper and smooth manner

Shared Use of Personal Information within the Yamato Group

Within the Yamato Group, the management resources of each component company are combined effectively in order to provide attractive services to our customers, thereby improving the corporate value of the entire Group.

Accordingly, the Company intends to share the personal data within the Group only on an as-needed basis, limiting the use to the scope as specified below. Furthermore, stricter controls and supervision will be instituted in order to enhance the sharing of personal information.

In the future, revisions to the sharing of personal information shall be made as necessary. Any such modifications will be publicly announced in advance.

In compliance with the provisions of Personal Information Protection Law in Japan, the Company shall handle requests for disclosure of Personal Information from any customer in the manner indicated below. The personal information for disclosure are defined as follows.

2. Procedures for Requesting Disclosure

(1) Submission of Required Documents

    2. (ii)If you own a FAX only

      Please FAX your request for the “Request form for Personal Information Disclosure” or the “Request form for Correction and Usage Termination” along with your name, FAX number and telephone number to CSR Department of Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. The form(s) will be sent to you later by FAX.

(2) Personal Identification

Based on the documents that you have submitted, the Company will confirm your identity as the principle.
Our service center may call you by telephone to Inquiry if you have actually made the request.

(3) Internal Search

Based on the request information that you have submitted, the Company will initiate an internal search. While the Company will make its best effort to search, there may be some data which cannot be extracted due to difficulties in data retrieval.

(4) Reporting of Results

Within one month after receipt of your request, the Company will send you a report of the search results. However, the Company may require more time in reporting if your request documents are not complete.

3. Fees

The Company will charge 1,000 JPY (including consumption tax) for searches related to requests for disclosure of personal information. The fee will be charged upon delivery of the report.
